Google Chrome is Google's new internet browser. I have used the browser and found it to be incredibly fast at viewing web pages. While speed is an important factor when selecting a browser, security has become an even more important consideration. Thankfully, Google has put a significant amount of effort into making Chrome one of the most secure browsers out there. Chrome has a key security feature called sandbox capability. This means that whenever you are viewing a webpage Chrome will treat the webpage as foreign and assign higher security settings to it. The webpage (internet) are separated from the interworkings of your computer. Therefore, viruses, spyware, and Trojans will have a difficult time infecting your computer while you are viewing a webpage. Chrome will be an important addition to antivirus because it will not enable web viruses to be automatically downloaded onto your computer. Chrome also offers other important security features. New tabs will open as their own separate processes. This will prevent one crashed tab from affecting the browser's stability as a whole. There is also a privacy or incognito mode. This special mode will prevent browser history from being created or cookies from being saved on your computer. Your computer tracks will be safe regardless of the websites you visit. Another key feature of Chrome is its ability to use Google search to determine whether or not you are visiting a phishing site. This option will allow you to feel more confident about purchasing things online.
I recently found WinPatrol and I am very glad I found the software. WinPatrol is a utility that is essentially a computer security monitor. This means that whenever something is changed on your system WinPatrol will alert you. Say that you accidently downloaded a virus and the virus added a startup entry to your computer. If WinPatrol is installed, it will automatically alert you to a virus that is attempting to start itself up when you turn on your computer. Another key feature is its database of known safe and unsafe programs. Frequently, many poeple are unsure of what programs are making entries on their computers. For example, a similar program may just alert you to the fact that AJSJS.exe (for demonstration purposes a fictitious file name) is attempting to add its self to your registry. How do you or I know that AJSJS.exe is not just a virus. Well with the WinPatrol database feature, it will analyze the file (ASJS.exe) and determine that it is just a component of Adobe Acrobat. You can now safely ignore ASJS.exe and be glad that it is not a virus. Consider adding WinPatrol in addition to your antivirus program.
