New Norton Antivirus and Twitter Phishing

Norton Antivirus has come a long way since its inception. The software used to have constant antivirus pop ups and need constant user attention. This lead many users to become frustrated with the antivirus software. Thankfully, Norton Antivirus 2009 addresses a lot of the pitfalls associated with previous Norton Antivirus products. The installation of the latest Norton Antivirus was seamless taking only around two minutes to complete. The software also wasn't installed on the latest and greatest computer only a measly Athlon x2. One of the most amazing thing about the new Norton antivirus is that it only uses 6 mb of Ram while idle. I don't believe that there is a competing antivirus software that uses less than 5 mb of ram at anytime! In addition to the low resource usage, the program scans only when the PC is idle. This is an excellent feature because you'll never have to be annoyed by an antivirus scan slowing down your computer while you want to use it. The next innovative feature is included in the Norton Antivirus Gamer Edition. The software will allow you to play any game without slowdown. I really liked the full screen detection mode that would detect if a game is running and would immediately put Norton antivirus into a silent suspended mode. Finally, Norton gets rid of a lot of user intervention and notification. Now, the software can handle cleaning viruses and updates without ever interrupting what the user is doing.

It really starts to stink when scammers participate in a practice called typo squatting. This involves taking a well know name such as Google and registering a name such as Goooogle a misspelling. With these misspellings websites individuals will place logins that look very similar to the real thing but are instead intended to steal your information. These malaise websites will also sometimes attempt to download viruses too. The latest incident of typo squatting is affecting the Twitter website. The site called tvviter.com looks very identical to Twitter.com. The login area and everything is a complete copy. However, once you enter your login information your essentially handing all of your Twitter account information to a scammer. Your account will then start linking to a myriad of sites attempting to install malware etc. So, how do you avoid a phishing site. Well there are number of free tools. One of the most notable is Free AVG antivirus Link scanner. This is a toolbar that is a plugin to Firefox or Internet Explorer. The software will check every website you visit against the company's virus blacklist. If a phishing or trojan site is detected it will alert you to not enter the site. Norton Antivirus also includes a free link scanner that will protect you against malware websites.
